Men.

Abdul Hakeem Belhaj, one of the most effective commanders among anti-Gadhafi forces in Libya, has seen plenty of combat in his 45 years. A well-built, bearded man with dark, serious eyes, he fought against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan -- and alongside al Qaeda in the dying days of the Taliban regime.

The father of Manchester suicide bomber Salman Abedi was previously a member of a militant group in Libya with alleged links to Al-Qaeda.
Ramadan Abedi, who has been arrested in connection with his son’s terror attack that killed 22 people, was a member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG).
In 2007, Al-Qaeda said the now-disbanded faction had joined its ranks, but this was denied by the LIFG, who said they had no ties with international organisations.
Ramadan Abedi was reportedly wanted by former Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi for his links with the LIFG.

Leading Libyan Islamist met Free Syrian Army opposition group
Abdulhakim Belhadj, head of the Tripoli Military Council and the former leader of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, "met with Free Syrian Army leaders in Istanbul and on the border with Turkey," said a military official working with Mr Belhadj. "Mustafa Abdul Jalil (the interim Libyan president) sent him there."

In 1992, Ramadan Abedi was sent back to Libya by Britain’s MI6 and was involved in a British-devised plot to assassinate Muammar Gaddafi. The operation having been readily exposed, he was exfiltrated by MI6 and transferred back to the UK where he obtained political asylum.
In 1994, Ramadan Abedi returned again to Libya under MI6’s direction. In late 1995 he is involved in the creation of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), a local branch of Al-Qaeda, in conjunction with Abdelhakim Belhadj. The LIFG was then employed by MI6 again to assassinate Gaddafi, for a payoff of £100,000. This operation, which also failed, provoked heated exchanges within British Intelligence, leading to the resignation of one David Shayler.
